✿ Notes  

‣ This pattern uses US terminology.

‣ Weave in any excess yarn.

✿ Materials

1. 4-ply yarn

2. 2.5mm crochet hook

3. Scissors

4. Darning needle

5. Optional: glue

✿ Stitches & Abbreviation

Ch: Chain

St(s): Stitches

Sc: Single crochet

Dc: Double crochet

Sl st: Slip stitch

✿ Lace bookmark crochet pattern ✿

Regular bookmark

Round 1: Ch 6, from the hook count 3 chains and make 1dc in the 3rd ch. If the pattern says "1dc into the 3rd ch" meaning you'll do this step.

(ch 8, 1dc into the 3rd ch) x 5

By the end of this round you should have 5 holes in between of the chains you skipped and the 1dc. This is where we will insert the stitches to make the flowers later.

Round 2: Ch 6 and mark the 3rd chain with a stitch marker. Count from the bottom. You will work all the stitches into the hole. DON'T INSERT any stitches in the chains, insert it into the space.

(4dc cluster, ch 7, 4dc cluster) insert all of this in the first hole. (Ch1, 4dc cluster, ch 7, 4dc cluster) x 4, ch 3, sl st.

Now we will work in the other sides of the chains (insert all the stitch in the small space NOT THE BIG SPACE:

(ch 3, 4dc cluster, ch 7, 4dc cluster) insert all of this in the first hole. (Ch1, 4dc cluster, ch 7, 4dc cluster) x 4, ch 3, sl st into the marked stitch.

★ If you want to change color for the next round ch 1 and cut your yarn to fasten off. But if you don't want to change color, just continue with the next step.

Round 3: Take your new color and attach it at the top space (this step is only for those who change the yarn color.

3sc, (4sc, ch 3 and sl st into the top sc of the last sc, 4sc) all in the same space, (1sc, [4sc, ch 3 and sl st into the top sc of the last sc, 4sc]) x 4, 3sc, ch 3 and sl st into the top sc of the last sc, 3sc, (4sc, ch 3 and sl st into the top sc of the last sc, 4sc) all in the same space, 1sc, [4sc, ch 3 and sl st into the top sc of the last sc, 4sc]) x 4, 3sc, ch 4, sl st into the first st.

★ Fasten off.

Make a tassel by wrapping the yarn multiple times around your finger and cut it. Then, cut the top part. Gather up all the yarn and insert it into the top part of the bookmark which is in the ch 4 space. Next, make sure all the yarn are the same length and wrap the top part 3-4 times while leaving some space at top and tie 3 knots at the back to secure it. I'd recommend you iron the bookmark to flatten it so it sits nicely inside your book without being too bulky!! And you're done!!

Wrap around bookmark

Round 1: Ch 6, from the hook count 3 chains and make 1dc in the 3rd ch. If the pattern says "1dc into the 3rd ch" meaning you'll do this step.

★ If you want to change color for the next round ch 1 and cut your yarn to fasten off. But if you don't want to change color, just continue with the next step.

Round 3: Take your new color and attach it at the top space (this step is only for those who change the yarn color.

3sc, (4sc, ch 3 and sl st into the top sc of the last sc, 4sc) all in the same space, (1sc, [4sc, ch 3 and sl st into the top sc of the last sc, 4sc]) x 4, 3sc, ch 5, 3sc, (4sc, ch 3 and sl st into the top sc of the last sc, 4sc) all in the same space, 1sc, [4sc, ch 3 and sl st into the top sc of the last sc, 4sc]) x 4, 3sc, sl st into the first st.

★ Fasten off.

For the wrap around bookmark, you need a long chains that act as a book mark. So make your chains until the length is enough to wrap around the book twice. DON'T CUT your yarn cause you will have to test the length first.

Insert the chains at the top part of the bookmark which has no loop and test it out on your book by putting the flower part at the front of the book and the chains inside the book. Make sure there's extra chains so you can insert it at the bottom space of the bookmark and you will tie a bow with it later. I'd recommend you iron the bookmark to flatten it so it sits nicely inside your book without being too bulky!! And you're done!!
