✿ Tic tac toe book sleeve pattern ✿

Book sleeve (use 4.0mm crochet hook)

Round 1: Chain the width of your books but leave 1 inch of the width because as you work on the pattern the chain is going to get bigger. Then it will fits your books perfectly. I did 20 ch. In the 2nd ch from your hook, insert 1 sc in each st until you have 1 left. In the last st, insert 3 sc.

Round 2: Work on the other side of your ch. Insert 1 sc in each st until you have 1 st left (Don’t make sc in the st where you insert 3 sc at R1). In the last st, insert 2 sc.

Round 3: Inc, 1 sc in each st until you reach the 3 sc that we did in R1. In each of the 3 sc, insert an Inc. Then, 1 sc in each st until you have 2 sts left. Insert Inc in the last 2 sts.

Round 4: In the first 3 sts, make 1 Inc. Insert 1 sc in each st until you reach the 3 Inc that we did in R3. In each of the 3 Inc, Insert 1 Inc. Then, 1 sc in each st until you’re left with 3 sts. In the 3 sts, Insert an Inc.

Round 5 - 7: 1 Hdc in each st.

Round 8 - until the length of your books: 1 sc in each st.

★ When you’re done, cut the yarn and make an invisible join.

Ruffles (use 4.00mm crochet hook)

Use your yarn for the ruffles (I’m using off white)

Round 1: Ch 1 at the place where you did your invisible join, 1 sc in the same st, skip, 7 dc in the same st, skip, sl st. Repeat the step until the end (the one in red). When you reach, the middle remember to make a button hole. To make a button hole just repeat the same step as before but instead of doing 7 dc you’re going to make (3 dc, ch 15, 3 dc) in the same st. Then continue with the usual step.

Tic tac toe line (use 3.0mm crochet hook)

a. Long (make 2)

Ch 45 or how long you want it to be. In the 2nd ch from your hook sl st all. Then, at the end ch 1. Lastly, fasten off and weave in all remaining yarn.

b. Short (make 2)

Ch 30 or how long you want it to be. In the 2nd ch from your hook sl st all. Then, at the end ch 1. Lastly, fasten off and weave in all remaining yarn.

Heart (use 4.0mm crochet hook)

★ If you just want the heart shape as a decorations then just make 3. If you want to make the playable version you need to make 5.

Round 1: 3 tc, 3 dc, ch 1, 1 tc, ch 1, 3 dc, 3 tc, ch 2, sl st, ch 1

Then pull the end of the magic ring until there is no hole left in the middle. After that, cut your working yarn and pull the tail so that the ch 1 that we did at the end tighten. Lastly, weave in any remaining yarns.

X shape (use 3.0mm crochet hook)

★ If you just want the X shape as a decorations then just make 3. If you want to make the playable version you need to make 4.

Round 1: Start in the 2nd ch, 3 sc, sl st, ch 4, now working in the back bump of the ch 4 (3 dc),  sl st, 2 sc, 2 sc in the same st, 3 sc, sl st, ch 4, now working in the back bump of the ch 4 (3 dc), sl st, 3 sc, sl st

Then, fasten off and weave in any remaining yarns.

★ Once you’re done making all the lines and shapes. Go ahead and glue it onto your book sleeve. You can refer to the picture above to see the placement. For the long lines, glue both of it vertically. Meanwhile, for the short lines, glue it on horizontally. Lastly, if you just want to make the X and heart shapes as a decoration, then just glue all of them onto your book sleeve.

How to make the Tic Tac Toe playable

I used a velcro and glue it onto all the tic tac toe squares that is on the book sleeve. Then, I also glue on the velcro in every X and heart shapes. You can refer to my youtube tutorial for more detailed instructions.
