How to crochet a grumpy cat with sling bag (plushie / keychain) | amigurumi tutorial

This little cat may look grumpy, but that’s exactly what makes it adorable. Paired with a mini sling bag, it becomes the perfect accessory for your keys, bags, or everyday carry. I specially created this grumpy cat for the grumpy on the outside but soft on the inside people. ‣ Weave in any excess yarn.
✿ Materials
1. Yarn:
- 5ply yarn or any yarn that is suitable with 3.5mm hook
- brown yarn for the eyes, whiskers and mouth
- any yarn to tie a bow on the neck
2. 3.5mm crochet hook
3. Darning needle
4. Scissors
5. Key chain
6. Stuffing
7. Glue

Ch: Chain
St(s): Stitches
Sc: Single crochet
Sc2tog: Single crochet two together
Tc: Treble crochet
Dec: Decrease
Inc: Increase
Sl st: Slip stitch
✿ Grumpy cat with a sling bag patterns ✿
Head
Round 1: In a magic ring, make 6sc
Round 2: (Inc, 1sc) x 3 <9>
Round 3: Insert 1sc in each st <9>
★ Fasten off. Repeat R1 - 3 and make one more. This will be the ears.
Round 4: Attach your yarn in one ear by making a ch 1 then join the other ear by making 1sc in the other ear. Then, continue 7sc, sc2tog (insert your hook into the last stitch of this ear and the other ear where we made ch 1 when we attach our yarn), 9sc, sl st
Round 5: Ch1, (Inc, 2sc) x 6 <24>
Round 6 - 7: 1sc in each st <24>
Round 8: 5sc, Inc x 3, 9sc, Inc x 3, 4sc <30>
Round 9 - 10: 1sc in each st <30>
Round 11: 5sc, dec x 3, 9sc, dec x 3, 4sc <24>
Round 12: (Dec, 2sc) x 6 <18>
Round 13: (Dec, 1sc) x 6 <12>
★ Fasten off. Cut long yarn for sewing and stuff the head. Sew on the eyes in between of round 8 - 9 and you will have 5 spaces in between of the eyes. In the centre of both eyes sew on the mouth.
For the whiskers, use the eyes that is pointed downward as your guide. Sew two straight lines on round 9 - 10 and you should have 1 space in between of the eyes and whiskers.
Body
Round 1: In a magic ring, make 9sc
Round 2 - 3: 1sc in each st <9>
★ Fasten off. Repeat R1 - 3 and make one more. This will be the leg.
Round 4: Repeat the same step as the head (R4). Attach your yarn in one leg by making ch 1 then join the other leg by making 1sc in the other leg. Then, 7sc, sc2tog, (insert your hook into the last stitch and the other leg where we made ch 1 when we attach our yarn), 9sc, sl st <18>
Round 5: (Inc, 2sc) x 6 <24>
Round 6 - 10: 1sc in each st <24>
Round 11: (Dec, 2sc) x 6 <18>
Round 12: (Dec, 1sc) x 6 <12>
★ Fasten off and stuff the body.
Arms
Round 1: In a magic ring, make 6sc
Round 2 - 3: 1sc in each st <6>
★ Fasten off. Repeat R1 - 3 and make one more.
Once you’re done, sew the head onto the body. Then, sew both arms while leaving a tiny gap at the neck so that you can use that to tie a bow.
Sling bag
Round 1: Ch 6, 4sc, 3sc in the same st, now work on the other side 3sc, 2sc in the same st <12>
Round 2 - 6: 1sc in each st <12>
In R6, finish off the round by making a sl st.
Round 7: Ch 1, 1sc in the sl st stitch, 5sc
Round 8 - 9: Ch 1 and turn your work, 1sc in each st <5>
Round 10: Ch1, then turn your work. Dec, 2sc, Dec <4>
Round 11: Ch1, make a sl st all around the bag opening and the flap
Round 12: Ch until the bag sling nicely on the cat. This will depends on your tension and yarn so just ch and put it on the cat before moving onto the next step.
Once you’re done, make a sl st in the other side of the bag to join the strap together. Make sure that you insert it into the corner / side of the bag.
★ Fasten off. Then, I glue on a star shape beads to act as a fake button for the bag. I also glue the flap onto the bag so that the bag won’t open and just act as a decoration. Finally, glue the back onto the cat (only the bag, you don’t have to glue the strap) and tie a bow onto the neck.
