How to crochet a bear keychain with flower & leaves | step-by-step tutorial

This is the cutest bear I've ever created but it is a challenge to figure out everything. I sketch this bear before and I decided to turn it into a real crochet bear but oh boy was it challenging. But I'm glad i pushed through it cause LOOK AT THIS CUTIE! This pattern is suitable for intermediate crocheters and beginners who are looking for a challenge. You'll work with wire for the sprout! This is my first ever crochet pattern with wires and I love it so much!! Take your time and as always you if you need extra guidance I have a video down below for you!

Body

I use a brown yarn for the leg.

Round 1: In a magic ring, make 10sc

Round 2 -3: Insert 1sc in each st <10>

★ Fasten off. Repeat R1 - 3 and make one more.

Join the two legs with a different colored yarn.

Round 4: Attach your yarn in one leg by making a ch 1 then insert 1sc into the same st. Next, join the other leg by making 1sc in the other leg. Then, continue 8sc, sc2tog (insert your hook into the last stitch and the other leg where we made ch 1 when we attach our yarn), 10sc, sl st <20>

Round 5: Ch 1, (Inc, 3sc) x 5 <25>

Round 6 - 10: 1sc in each st <25>

Round 11: (Dec, 3sc) x 5 <20>

Round 12: 1sc, (Dec, 2sc) x 4, Dec, 1sc <15>

Round 13: (Dec x 1sc) x 5 <10>

★ Now, stuff the body and continue with the head. Don’t fasten off.

Head

Round 14: Inc x 10 <20>

Round 15: (Inc, 1sc) x 10 <30>

Round 16: (Inc, 5sc) x 5 <35>

Round 17 - 19: 1sc in each st <35>

Round 20: (Dec, 5sc) x 5 <30>

Round 22: (Dec, 3sc) x 5 <20>

Round 23: (Dec, 2sc) x 5 <15>

Round 24: (Dec, 1sc) x 5 <10>

Round 25: Dec x 5 <5>

★ Fasten off and stuff the head.

Ears
Round 1: In a magic ring, make 8sc

Round 2 -3: Insert 1sc in each st <8>

★ Fasten off. Repeat R1 - 3 and make one more. Then, sew the ears on top of the head. From the top count 4 rows and that is where you’re going to start sewing.

Arms

Round 1: In a magic ring, make 8sc

Round 2 - 5: Insert 1sc in each st <8>

★ Fasten off. Repeat R1 - 5 and make one more. Then, sew both arms at the side of the body while leaving a little space to insert the flower.

Flower

Round 1: Ch 23, insert 1sc in each st <22>

Round 2:  Insert a sl st into the first st, then continue with this pattern (skip, 6tc, skip, sl st) x 5

By the end you should have a total of 5 petals

Join the flower by making a sl st into the first st.

★ Fasten off. Then put it on the bear neck and to make sure that it won’t come off I glue the flower onto the bear with a hot glue gun.

Leaves

I crochet around a wire to make the leaves sturdier. This part is a little hard if you’re a beginner so I wouldn’t recommend you do this. But if you’re up to a challenge go and give it a try!

Round 1: Ch 5, 1sc, 2hdc, 1sc, ch 2, 1sc, 2hdc, 1sc, sl st into the first st. Then, repeat the same step and make the other leaf without cutting your yarn.

Then, leave a long yarn before cutting. You’re going to use the excess yarn to wrap around a wire or use a toothpick. This is going to act as a stem for the leaves.

Once you’re done wrapping the yarn, glue the end to make sure it’s secure. Then, apply more glue at the stem (only the part where you want to insert) and insert the wire / toothpick that has been wrapped at the top head. Make sure you insert it at the centre. This part is a little tricky so just insert it slowly making sure the wire doesn't bent or the toothpick doesn’t broke.

Lastly, sew the eyes on between R9 - 10 and you will have 5 spaces in between of the eyes. At the centre sew on the mouth. I also added some blush with my make up to add more colors to the bear.

You’re done!!
